Blackbeard is here in OPTC as the fifth 24 Hour Raid Boss! With a 30 and 40 stamina difficulty, he will be the hardest of the current raid bosses.

Blackbeard has a very inefficient looking captain ability because despite the health and attack boost, he takes double the damage which means that if you run a double blackbeard team and an attack does 25000 damage then you end up taking 100000 damage which is a huge hit. However his special more than makes up for this error. Since the damage done is 10 times the damage taken you would be dealing a humongous amount of 250000 damage to the enemy for each blackbeard (500000 for 2 blackbeard captains). It is however more safer to take blackbeard in STR crews as subs if the crew is meant to tank hits. However if the crew is a burst STR team against future upcoming bosses like Doflamingo then he is a really good choice as a captain as well. That said Blackbeard is one of the hard hitters of the game and his special is one you should surely max out.

Tips:
  • Blackbeard only drops as a 4* unit. 
  • 4* Blackbeard evolves at level 70 and requires 1,066,998 EXP.
  • 5* Blackbeard has 50 cost so don't evolve him until you feel like you can handle it.
  • You can skill up Blackbeard through Same Character Synthesis.
  • Both evolutions have the same Special name so you can use either as skill up material.
  • Remember that Blackbeard is unaffected by Debuffs like Turn Delay.
  • Stall effectively to try and get your Specials up by the time you reach Blackbeard. This means hitting a unit with only 1 unit as opposed to all 6 at times (don't be afraid to take hits).

You will face 2 Elder Sea-Horses and 4 Marine Soldiers. Start by killing both Elder-Seahorses before attacking the Marines. Leave the Purple Gunner for last.

BOSS: Blackbeard

He will pre-emptively lock a unit for 25 Turns. Either run an unlocker or forget about using him.
He will also put up a Debuff Protector for 999 Turns so no Hammer Usopp.
At 50% Health, he will "Silence" your Captain (Your Captain Skill stops taking effects) as well as attacking.
At 20% Health, he will use Liberation!! which silences BOTH Captains and deals decent damage to your team.

Garp Heart Burst Team

The team used to clear 30-Stamina with ease - with 40-Stamina it will not be so easy as Blackbeard is not easy to burst down. With the extra health and weaker attack, you could almost use Blackbeard as a way to stall to get your specials up and go for the final Burst.


Semi-Burst Team (Ace/Jozu) 

The more traditional approach against a Force Raid Boss - Speed Teams are the way to go! Ace Lead is preferred over Jozu due to Blackbeard's constant silencing. This team can clear 30 Blackbeard with no problems.


Tank QCK team (Jozu/Jozu) 

It is possible to do 40 stamina Blackbeard with a double jozu team. The advantage of this team is that you can take enough damage and stall as long as you stay above half of your health before Blackbeard silences your captain. Keep Ace and Sanji as your bottom 2 units as they are the only ones he can lock.
